Honing is little stock of material removing operation in which an abrasive stone remove material from the Internal diameter of work piece/ component at relatively slow speeds & low pressure. This results a stress – free metal removal in the bore. It is fast stock removing process capable of producing components of very high accuracy without disturbing the bore & its axis.

The Abrasive stones are composed of grain of Silicon Carbide & Aluminium Oxide grade. So that they are all of a particular size then bounded together to honing sticks. Simply Honing means to produce high geometrical Accuracy i.e. straightness & Roundness of hole, with specified surface finish.
